Thursday turned cloudy and we had a last minute request for a bespoke trip in the Pyrenees. What a weekend it turned out to be, hot, hot, hot. After a 2-hour drive through stunning countryside we arrived at the picture-perfect medieval town of Ainsa, where the Cinca and Ara rivers meet. We spend mornings hiking in the foothills of the surrounding valleys cooling off from the 40-degree heat in the waterfalls, pools, and rivers. Topped off by incredible nights filling our stomachs in the Ainsa square by candlelight with the cool but gentle breeze of the night. We liked this tour as much as our clients.

Well they said they were up for the challenge! So we took the top route along one of the most stunning parts of the famous Camino de Santiago otherwise known as the St James Way. With amazing climbs and fun descents and not a soul in sight this is one tailor-made trip we would love to repeat. We ended the tour crossing over to San Juan by boat then a quick ride to the end for a dip to cool off before BBQ’d as fresh as you can get fish. What a day!

Not a breath of wind and glassy like a mirror. We cruised through stunning woods, past flower filled meadows. We saw wild horses, masses of fish, too many different birds to count. But one thing we didn’t see was a single soul, just us for the whole tour and we topped it off with the best picnic on record. Family’s, first timers and experienced paddle boarders, this is an amazing, unique tour that we can tailor make just for you to suit you level.
What a weekend, we rode mountain bike along the coastal route of St James Way off the beaten track from the usual hikers. We stand up paddled down the super glassy calm river Oria stopping for swims along the way. We had a great gang who stood up for the first time in the surf. Today we headed in land for the “The train track trail”. It was a hot one so the ride through the tunnels gave a much needed shady break from the heat. The river and woods look their very best right now at the height of Spring, full of fish and birds. We passed through farms on our way to Leitza spotting a brand new foal before wandering the old streets of this charming, unchanged local village. We bumped into local world champ Iñaki Perurena who can lift 320 kilos. Our guests had decided to push it and do 50km instead of 25km so we fuelled up on traditional ham bocatas before heading back on the hang on to the seat of your pants down hill route.
We had a great time hiking the “On the Edge” tour today on a hot Summer’s morning. This classic part of the Camino de Santiago otherwise known as St James Way looked stunning as we made our way up from the city, through the woods and out onto the Coastal track with insane views of the sea. It was a clear day which meant we could see right up the coast to France with views of Biarritz and even up to Hossegor. We took it easy today as the clients had a great interest in the local wildlife so there was plenty of photo and pintxo breaks.
We wound down past the lighthouse and made our way to San Pedro where we decided to stop in one of the bars along the way and fill our bellys before we headed back to San Sebastian.
