Thursday turned cloudy and we had a last minute request for a bespoke trip in the Pyrenees. What a weekend it turned out to be, hot, hot, hot. After a 2-hour drive through stunning countryside we arrived at the picture-perfect medieval town of Ainsa, where the Cinca and Ara rivers meet. We spend mornings hiking in the foothills of the surrounding valleys cooling off from the 40-degree heat in the waterfalls, pools, and rivers. Topped off by incredible nights filling our stomachs in the Ainsa square by candlelight with the cool but gentle breeze of the night. We liked this tour as much as our clients.

We had a great time hiking the “On the Edge” tour today on a hot Summer’s morning. This classic part of the Camino de Santiago otherwise known as St James Way looked stunning as we made our way up from the city, through the woods and out onto the Coastal track with insane views of the sea. It was a clear day which meant we could see right up the coast to France with views of Biarritz and even up to Hossegor. We took it easy today as the clients had a great interest in the local wildlife so there was plenty of photo and pintxo breaks.
We wound down past the lighthouse and made our way to San Pedro where we decided to stop in one of the bars along the way and fill our bellys before we headed back to San Sebastian. Don’t worry if you would like to take this tour up a gear, it is an amazing route for trail running and we can tailor make this tour suited just for you and your group.
